Peoples Stories:

Dance is a sport, a form of art, a kind of entertainment, as well as an emotional releaser and aid for the dancer. Dance has healed and transformed the lives of many individuals, including mine. Take Kevin Turner's story: he'd always had a passion for dancing and had always understood movement. He had begun by choreographing short battle sequences, but he was now expanded out into different genres. He had a tough time in his adolescence, and he went through a melancholy phase without realizing it. He disregarded it until he had a major breakdown in his 30s, at which point he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and admitted to a mental institution. After all, he had dealt with, he wanted to help people when he was released... He took his understanding of dance composition and put his personal troubles into choreography as a way of opening up about his mental health issues. His dance had allowed him to take responsibility for his behavior and the way he acted in front of others, including friends and family. He began to perform his "witness" piece, and each time he did so, it seemed more liberating, as he was able to express his sentiments to the rest of the world. His dance had reached numerous people; a father approached him and opened up about his emotional problems; his son was stunned next to him because he had never heard his father open up about such things; and a woman wrote him a letter saying, "This has really made me think twice about my self-destruction." All of these people are opening up as a result of viewing one choreography; dance not only opens up the dancer but also the audience, making them feel less uncomfortable about such concerns.

Another example is the narrative of Clarence McFerrin II, who is a teacher. He also had faced emotional troubles and also went to the psychiatric hospital. He grew up in a highly religious family and was raised with severe prejudices; he was taught that if you are a male dancer, you are gay. As a result of his inner dread, he discreetly danced in mirrors only for himself, and he was even frightened of being shunned by his family. He has seen that we are frequently encouraged to sit down, listen, and be quiet among his students, despite the fact that actions speak louder than words. He has introduced dance to his students as a creative and emotive means of telling a story or expressing emotions. These were their dance reactions: It's like an escape when you're dancing; all you can think about is the music. You become completely oblivious to everything else going on around you. "Before dance, my confidence was poor, and I walked with my head down, but since then, my confidence and personality have grown." Mcferrin taught his students how to express themselves through dance. "Dancing is quite healing."He depicts dance as: “Mental liberation through dance delves into the historical to present correlation of the positive impact that the art of dance has on mental health. Dated back to slavery, dance was instrumental in depicting stories and conveying ideas along with emotions. Therefore dance has become a universal language to communicate”.
