My Journey

I'm Nalini, I'm a middle school student, and ever since I was small I loved to dance. I had regretfully not discovered until 2 years ago it was my passion but only pursued it last year. Ever since I was small I was always dancing and always had this understanding of rhythms and mixing that with movement. I had then stopped for a while and pursued more music. In 6th grade there was a quarantine, during these days I had more time to listen to music. One day I started dancing to a song and continued for 2 minutes. I felt super relieved and happy after and I realized I had forgotten how relieving dance could be. I then continued to dance during quarantine, experimenting with different styles and generally experimenting with different movements.  It was only until last year, in 7th grade I decided with a friend to attend a basic urban dance class. We continued for half the year. I slowly started to improve and realized I had a natural rhythm. I then decided to go to more challenging classes and now attend private ones.  I have been continuing them and still am. With my different challenges of learning different genres, I have seen great improvement in my overall dancing.

My Journey: Quote

Dance makes me feel better in so many ways, while I'm dancing I feel: liberated; I didn't have to anticipate my next motion; rather, I just let every gesture stream; I'd finally been free to articulate my sentiments and experience through my body and music. I felt relieved when I concluded the dance since I had been able to express my emotions through art. I'd never felt so free and content in my entire life. Ever since that moment in my life I have never stopped dancing.
